I was just looking at the changes to 08 and it says you can not start bike if the jiffy stand is down. I have forgotten to put it and it just pops up as I go. So obviously my bike doesn't have this or it was disconnected. Any one else have this on bike???
No I was reading the tech form.pdf and it talk about not being able to start bike with Jiffy stand down. My bike starts leaning on its side in neutral.
I see these things a lot -- 3 HD's -- 1996, 2008, 2011. No restrictions on starting, period. Doesn't matter if the stand is down, doesn't matter if I'm in gear (it'll even try to start in gear - ask me how I figured that one out), doesn't matter if the clutch is in. As long as the switch is on and you press the button, there she goes.
THAT SAID: My buddy has an 2007 that he swears won't do a thing unless his clutch is in. Neutral or not.
I'm not saying that I know - I'm just saying that I know what I know.

What you should know is, there is a problem with your bike if it starts in gear without the clutch dis-engaged.
