I have a chance to own a 2012 Fatboy the fatboy has 700 miles on it I have a 2011 ultra limited I will be keeping the ultra I am not very familiar with the softtail would I be making a mistake? I want another bike to run around town
I traded my king for a cross bones and couldn't be happier, much more nimble and plain old fun. Lucky you can keep two, my vote is you get a springer, nice ones for sale in the classifieds.
My first harley was a 2002 Fatboy. Loved that bike man. I sold it to a Captian of mine to buy an 08 CVO Springer. Always felt wrong, missed that Fatboy ever since.
some consider the dyna to be the hot rod of the HDs (Vrod aside) doesn't have the internally balanced motor that the softails have. I traded a 09 Road King on my Crossbones. I missed having bags and cruise but I still love the Crossbones. I wanted another bagger, but not enough to trade in the softail. Finally was in a position where I could get the Road Glide and keep the bones. If you are able to get a 12 FB, that is one of the higher priced Softies, so in reality you should be able to get whichever model strikes you most if that makes sense. If I were shopping for something as just an around town ride, I would probably give the blackline or new slim a serious look too...with some mods they are sweet rides...
I traded in a 2007 Fatboy for a 2012 Street Glide, I love my new ride but when I can get funds I will be looking for another Fatboy, I loved that bike.
