Default Accessory wire to battery

I am trying to wire my amplifier in my batwing fairing to the battery, which requires running a heavier power wire under the tank to the battery's positive terminal. What is the best way to do this, as spaces seem very tight? Is is possible to unbolt the tank and lift it a bit to run a wire through, or will that be problematic? Right now the wiring channel under the tank has limited space, as there are hydraulic hoses under there too.

Unless you take the tank off and stow that wire really well, it's a dead short waiting to happen. I'd reconsider your power source options.

I just did this, ran two 10ga wires. Just remove your tank, there is a channel with plenty of room.

Um, year and model would give clue as to what you are dealing with.

2009+ models have a nice channel under the tank

other solutions for earlier models.

I have a ham radio on my bike. It has a remote control head at the handle bars and the radio main body at the back. I ran the control wire, about the size of a 6 or 8 gauge wire, and two other wires for accessories through the conduit that is under the tank. Tight? Yes. Doable? Yes again. With room for more wires if I take my time to fit them in. And, if you need to you could run wires under the conduit with ties.

Tank removal is not that tough. A couple of bolts. The pressurized fuel line if it is a FI model. One electrical wire for the gauges. Just have a place to put it once you lift it off.

Take your time. No problem.

Definitely take the tank off and do it right. White you're at it, get one of those fuel disconnects for your cross over line, that's the worst part about removing your tank.

I got a 10ga power wire (Amp), a heavy duty iPod wire (about 10ga) and a 12ga power wire (HID's) and I was able to fit it all in the plastic cover, and zip tie it in.
