Anything over 500 miles in one day and I am ready to call it a day. Have done many 250-350 miles day and feel pretty good afterwards.

There are miles and then there are miles. 400 is reasonable if you are cruising on the interstate and can maintain a steady, high speed. When I travel, however, I find interstates boring and take the state roads and old US highways (with the shield signs). 400 miles on those roads is a LOOONNNG day. I limit to about 300 miles to allow for frequent stops to enjoy the scenery.

As the saying goes, for me it's more about the journey than the destination. But you have places you are trying to get to, so it's a different kind of trip.

What everybody has said here is true. 400 miles a day should be an enjoyable, easy ride for ya. The thing to keep in mind, especially on interstates is to remember to keep your concentration on what your doing, try not to let your mind drift. You make a lane change & forget to look over your shoulder in a cage, mabey bend up a fender or 1/4 panel & bumper. Do that on your bike, most likely ya dont get another chance. Stop & rest if ya start feeling tired.

Never worried about the miles usually 500+ and have went as high as 1,000 when needed.

Stop every two hours, hydrated and walk around a little. That can go on all day long without problems.

That has been my only strategy on long tours ( 2K to 9K) over the years. I'm 71 and that doesn't tire me out.

Touring is always fun. Purring down the road, smelling, listening, viewing and watching the endless horizon is always fun. Even across boring Canadian Highway 1 last year for 1,000 miles and 22.5 hours because of their slow roads and the border crossing.

When I'm motoring down the road on a HD I feel like I'm 19 again! God bless America - God bless Harley Davidson!
