ohlins vs progressive
I think I'd be tempted to cut and grind it off, when it comes to your winter rebuild of the set up, and free yourself up a little bit as to where you are placing the reservoirs. If you never want to use the bit old retro saddle bag guards, that is.
At least it's only the saddle bag support bar ... Take them off, have them sand blasted, de-nib and wire brush them, cut the bracket off and then, may be, weld on two small tabs to the mount the Ohlin reservoirs.
If Ohlins don't do a reservoir with tabs, I'd be tempted to think of making up something like a clutch cable stay to them clamp them in place.
Something like one of these, but bigger ...
You would not need tabs, you could just clamp it in place, but tabs would hold it better and more easily off to the side, away from anything moving (just some loose thoughts as I cannot actually see one in front of me).
Alternatively. you could have a 90 degree bracket that was clamped into place by the black cap of the reservoir ... but it would not be so strong.
I'd agree you need another inch or so, that top curve looks a little tight to me. I am sure it won't be a problem but it would look better a little more relaxed.
What fittings do the pipes use ... typical AN-3? Are they standard teflon lined oil or brake lines?
Tending towards perfectionism on these things, I'd say something with a 20 degree fitting on the top might sort it out a little better.

For those interested in doing so, I found the text only print version makes it easier.
Quickly, I don't see any mention of braided line length. Is that on Howard's website or Ohlin's own page?

I also like the idea of the chrome heavy duty clamps or a billet aluminum. I think it would be much better than tape and hose clamps.
Likely it is a fairly standard metric size and something already exists to fit it in the sports bike world.
I did a Google for 'shock absorber reservoirs clamps' or 'Shock Canister Mount' images and came up with quite a few.
For example ...

From mattsclassicbowties.com ...

I'm guessing you could find something to your taste or easily mod one. There's a few also for Arctic Cats or even whip mounts for UTVs. All it takes sometimes is to step back and do a little lateral thinking.
I agree with you that worm gear clamps and tape are just not good enough on a product and bike that expensive and that classy.
