Buy bulk oil and filters on sale, and change it yourself.
Local dealers here have spring Open House sales and everything 15 to 20 percent off as far as parts. I pick up a half dozen filters. Could care less about the chrome ones so I'm paying about seven a filter out the door.

It's got to be the worlds worst kept secret that buying oil from a dealer will result in paying top dollar. I'll pay it for the Amsoil I use. I've got 28k into the bike. I'm not going to try and save $20 a year on oil.

Changing the oil is about as difficult as changing a lightbulb. A new oil ring and some teflon thread sealer and it's done. Even the filter drips no more than a few drops when removed. If it worries you that much, get the Fix My Hog video and watch it and it will make it much clearer.

Not trying to be a smarta$$ or anything (well, maybe I am) but how many of you use this in your B&S engines. It's only $4.15 for 18 oz. and it's designed specifically for your B&S air cooled engine. Tell me, do you feel obligated to use it because it's got the B&S logo on it?? It's gotta be better because it's made for your specific engine brand, right!! Do ya see my point here??

It really gets my goat. MFG's all sell branded oils and etc, makes the unknowing new owner feel they must use their over priced oil etc.

WELL GUESS WHAT
Harley Davidson, Honda, Yamaha, Briggs and Stratton, John Deere, Ford,Dodge, you see where I am going right. Do not make any feakin oil, they buy unbranded oil from BP, Shell, Texaco and put there sticker on it.

Marketing it is all a marketing strategy, they put it out there and most are dumb enough to buy it, cause they know no better.
