Well that sucks! I have an 04 and am seriously looking at a 12 limited. I test rode one and I thought it was head and shoulders above my 04 with regards to stability, comfort and overall ride?

Some of the late model bikes do get the wobbles after a few miles on the odometer. The new frame may be better, but mostly just great marketing and easier to make a trike with the bolt on rear section. I.m.o. Harley will have this problem till they mount the engine in a better manner. Some of you may remember the Vincent Black Shadow had the same problems.

09 up are the same chassis, w/ dual front motormounts, the are more resistant but still have the potential in stock trim, if you push it hard enough or conditions exist.
Contributing factors are:
Wheels- all, check bearings, balance. laced, check spokes
Tires- type and pressure, stock 402s are not the best
Neck- check bearings, adjust
rubber mounts- check serviceability, replace if necessary
Suspension- OEM front and rear are wanting, upgrade with something, anything.

I would do all these first, then add a $100 set of Sta-Bo support bushings, If that doesn't do it go back and recheck all the basics before adding a brace of any type.

My old "crappy" chassis 06 SG is set up with Ohlins 3-3s, modified Intiminators w/ single rate springs, Sta-Bo bushing, and E3s front and rear, You gotta push it real hard now to experience any wiggle.

Try running your tires at the sidewall embossed max cold pressure, that should help. Many new bikes need their neck bearings adjusted within the first 10,000 miles.

Mine has a high speed "weave" on a highway cloverleaf for example but nothing scary... it seems much more pronounced when feet are on hwy pegs, tho, so I am certain that chassis flex is involved. However, some flexion is necessary for a bike to negotiate a curve at all. On my "to-do" list is the new/improved triple tree which should improve things....

In this months American Iron Magazine, on page 131, there is a discussion about the Death Wobble. Although this article is talking about a Danya, it talks about the wobble and the cause. This is not a uncommon issue even among the new frames ( 09 and new) although it seems to be less so with the new frames. I would do a Google search on " Harley Death Wobble". There is a great deal of information as well as mis-information on the subject. In short, it has to do with the way the power train connected to the frame or not connected in this case. Again, as many have said here, tires, shocks, steering head bearing, etc, etc, all have an effect and cause of the death wobble. Obviously, I am not an expert nor do I want to tell you something that is incorrect but, I would do the Google search and investigate the subject in more detail on your own. But, it is fair to say, there is most diffidently a issue. I have not had a wobble in 40,000 miles on my 09 UC. But, it is not to say it won't happen and that scares the heck out of me.
