Anyone have personal experience with their amp(s) and speakers?
I've had J&M spks for a long time and the work as well as any using just the stock head unit to drive them. I have searched and searched for amp options for my RG(s). I asked Pez a while back and he had an amp system for Ultras, but not RG's. I don't want 4 speakers, I want 2.. and I want them louder and clearer. I found a small 100w amp at Earmark (highend car audio shop), but it wasn't worth a crap on the bike. In fact, it sounds better w/o it.
I have talked with the Hawg Wired guys and it "sounds" (no pun) like they've got a pretty sweet setup. All the guys there ride baggers, just like us and you can see their scoots on their website.
Hopefully, someone has first hand experience with these systems and can share it....
Some wires got crossed somewhere---our rear speaker system is designed for all bikes except Ultras. Only thing for Road Glides is that our RG Adaptor kit is required to have them secured in the shark nose fairing--RG Adaptor also includes alonger wire harness needed to get around the headlights, and keep everything plug and play.
We may have talked about an amp sometime ago, when I could not break apart our rear kit to supply the amp--although we dont show it on our website, we have been selling forum members the amp by itself for guys like you who want the 2 speakers only.
Maybe gimme call at 705-719-6361 if you wanna yak about it
Harleypaw--when the amp was released, we had not completed testing using the amp on a 2 ohm load--we have several guys with 2 ohm speakers running the amplifier without issue--maybe you can gimme a call if you wanna yak.
Just a suggestion, I just ordered an amp from biketronics. They've been designing one just for Harleys and is supposed to kick ars. Best of all its a tiny 75w rms class T amp.
Very little battery drain and great bass. He says its 400 amp or 500 amp and speakers. I'll post some pics and a review when I get it. Alittle less than hog tunes, but hopefully a better designed product.
All I can say is that I have looked things over and will be ordering a 2 channel amp (expandable) and a pair ofcomponent speakers from Hawg Wired later this winter. Their products look to be state of the art for a motorcycle, though not cheap. They have answered all of my questions promptly and seem to have customer service in mind. I'm pretty sure the finished product will sound as good as anything out there, especially since I can expand to amplify four speakers and even a sub-woofer if I want to in the future.
