Long Day

So yesterday the wife and I take off for a ride. About 120 miles from home I notice the volts dropping. So we turned around and jamm for home. Made it about 40 miles back when it died. So there we are stuck in a little town no cell service and the town is closed (All three stores). After about an hour a guy on a sport bike stops and let us use his phone, call for a trailer and 6 hrs later we are home.

Now the bike 04 FLHTC new battery last week (old one died over winter break). Do you think its the stator or voltage reg thats bad or both? Going to buy new volt met. today to test but thought I would see if anyone has Run into this before?

Could be either one or both. Test to see but get your battery charged ASAP on a full charger not a trickle charger. Full drains are bad for the life of AGM batteries.

Charge the battery, start the bike, & check the output from the stator. The procedure is in your shop manual. If the stator output is good, it's the regulator. If the stator output is bad replace both the stator & the regulator.
