Good luck with your recovery. I did all I could upon leaving the hospital and it helped with my range of motion a lot.
Congrats on losing all that weight. You could have been a contestant onthe biggest loser.

knackered my knee when i was 20 , i did it pretty bad and had a rebuild ,
i was off work for a year , signed myself off the sick and got a job that involved less walking , and within 2 weeks i was back in hospital , a piece of the repaired bone came away and got stuck in the joint , locking my knee bent at 45 degrees , another opp and physiotherapy and i was back in work after 3 months ( they held my job for me).... it wasn't the best time in my life , but its been o.k for the last 26 years , not great but i can walk far enough , it always hurts but I'm used to it , just though id cheer you up........... lol
look after your self , follow whatever is recommended , and you should be fine , you will probably need another clean out in a few years if it gets a bit fluffy , but there a week tops

Ive been doing rehab on athletes and weekend warriors for 10 yrs. If it was a simple scope (most are) then really focus on ROM and do as much as you can. If the doc repaired the meniscus he would have sent you home on crutches with no weight bearing for 6 wks to allow the meniscus to heal.

Even with a simple scope it is important to make sure your quad is working correctly. While watching the tube or browsing the forum try flexing your quad and making sure all the muscles fire.

Other than that grit your teeth, take your pain pills if needed, and do what you can. Hope this helps.

Not quite the surgery I had. I had loose cartilage removed from behind the kneecap, some minor work in that area, and a new ACL installed. I was layed up in a livingroom chair for three weeks, on crutches for another three weeks, and three months of rehab. It was a real sun of a gun to get the knee to work again and now it works okay.

You should be able to ride in a few days. ROM is the most important thing. If you gives you any motovation, I had total knee replacement was riding again in less than 6 weeks.

gimpy for a few months. it will take 9-12 months before you can kneel without discomfort. But after that, it will be like new!

I had mine done 5 weeks ago, was riding about ten days after. Put lots of ice on her too. I found out that the first 1.5 days was a cake walk, the days following it swelled and was stiffer than a board but I was insured and riding in under two weeks. Good luck.

I've had two sports related knee injuries and surgeries and it took me longer to bounce back from the meniscus than I expected. Based on the replies, I would say my recovery took longer than the average. From spending a lot of hours in the gym I worked the p/t hard and my pain tolerance is pretty high, but it still took a while.

Hopefully your recovery will go well, and you'll be able to get back on the bike quickly. Just make sure that the knee feels stable. It would suck to put your foot down at a stop and have the knee buckle.

Good luck.

Mine took awhile too. Had it done about 15 years ago. Maybe the procedure is different now. Was told to stay off it except for bathroom etc for 5 days and take my pain pills before it started hurting. I, of course, didn't listen and was on it too much and not taking the pain pills. I paid for it big time, worst pain I ever had!!! Started taking the pain pills, mild ones at first, then the strong ones. Finally the pain subsided and I conked out for 12 hours straight in the recliner. I took my pain pills as prescribed for the next week after that! Was off work for 6 weeks, but only because of re-injury risk. Now it ain't far from needing replacement......I can hardly wait!

Yeah when they go in they move stuff around so the pain of that healing it the worst part. I have had both scoped and now replaced BIlateral replacements. Best thing I ever did I went many years suffering with the knee pain.... now it another day..............oh to answer your question 1 week you should be able to get around good but squating might be a little iffy.
