I was kinda fuzzy...first set replaced at 18,500, second set replaced at 37,500, on third set now. All the tires were OEM size for 2010 FLHTC.
jward,
I just ordred my first MCII and it's due next week for the rear of my bike. Stock OEM D402 is almost shot at 5400 miles.
Hoping you like the MCII's...since this is my new tire. And I'll be interested in your updates since you had the DE3 - which was the tire I was gonna get but elected to get MCII.
First 1500 miles include 800 miles of high speed interstate, 700 of mixed to include The Dragon and The Devil's Triangle (WOW). So far, they are my favorites...mileage will determine if they become the tire of choice.
I have the MCII on the front of my 06 Ultra and so far really liking it. Rides smooth, corners well and works well in the little wet weather we have had. Only have put about 3K mile on it thus far.
I will probably be due rear tire in about 3 months and have not fully decided to go with MCII. My only concern would be in case of blow-out - would the much lighter sidewall on the MCII survive as well (stay on the rim) as the heavy Dunlop. Maybe a stupid concern, but it is one I have.

Where did you get this info? I can't find anything describing the sidewall other than appearance.

Stupid concern unless you're the one that has the blow out. I've saw this concern on a couple of other forums as well. I've had a couple of flats over the years and have been fortunate to still be here to talk about it. But it's an experience you don't soon forget. For that reason, the possability of the lighter sidewall will keep me on the OEM tires.
I'm an agressive rider but also do the cross country rides on a loaded down bagger so cutting corners on safety for a few more miles just isn't worth the trade off for me. If they made a run flat tire for baggers, I'd be all over them......even if they got less mileage. I think I'm becoming just a bit wiser as I get older.
41k miles on my 09 UC. Changed front & Rear now three times with OEM Dunlop. Getting around 11k out of set of tires. Getting kind of expensive to say the least. Metzeler Commander II claims double the mileage. About ready to give them a try. Any comments on Commander II tires?
