Got the Ohlins from Howard a month or so ago. The install was easy and setting the sag was straight forward. I went for a short ride and there was a huge difference right off. I reset the rebound and went for a 100 mile ride and these shocks are amazing! No bottoming out and no throwing me off the seat like before. The usual places that would cause me discomfort before were not even noticable with the Ohlins. Smooth is all I can say and they are not even broken in yet! Rode two up and the ride was good. I did adjust the pre-load one turn and the rebound two turns so they should be perfect. I highly recommend these shocks and wish I had done this years ago!! Going to throw my old HD touring shocks in the trash were they belong. I highly recommend these and buying from Howard you get exactly the set-up you need! I had the length set at 13" and my bike still sets nice and rides great!
Wouldn't throw them in the trash. Keep them in case you trade your bike in. That way you can put the Ohlins on your new ride!!!
Good one!! I am a pack rat and usually keep everything. I have my scoot right where I want it and this will be my last Harley as I am going to ride it till I can ride no more.
There is a freeway on ramp near my home, it has three expansion joints around the curve. Very rough in every car I've been in. The ohlins cruise right over them, I can feel them of course but they are very smooth compared to a car. The front shocks are another story, but the back ones are sweet. I think that is where the ohlins shine the best, when you hit a bump in the middle of a curve. If you think it was bad and it can be, the ohlins are not a fix all, but just imagine doing it without the ohlins.
has anyone gone from progressives to ohlins? i was considering the progressive 940's before i found this thread.
There is a lot of info here on the Forum. Use the search feature and you will find many who have spent money on Progressives and then wound up going Ohlins. I will say they are worth every penny! And if you buy them From Motorcycle Metal, Howard, and mention that you are a member you get a great discount. Check it out before you buy any other shock!

I ran Progressive 940's and monotubes on my last bike , I liked them and they were a big improvement over stock , on my current bike I went with Ohlins and Progressive monotubes , although I was happy with the 940's the Ohlins are in a whole other world and worth the money , I will never ride without Ohlins again
