thinking i may have to do some performance upgrades . So wondering what you think about super trapp stouts or others I don't want pipes much louder than stock just a bit and increased hp and torque.
Also for later maybe this coming fall what about harley's 103 stage 4 kit? I have a 2012 road glide ultra.
If you want "just a little louder than stock" you might just try the H-D SE slip-ons. I was told by my dealer that they are just 2 dB louder than stock. I know that doesn't sound like much but 3 dB would be 2x as loud in terms of sound pressure. I was looking to buy a set but decided I wanted a little more "character"!
Super Trapp makes SE pipes for HD, and they do sound good. If yoi have a 2012, don't you already have a 103? Add a cam, A/C, exhaust, and tuner, you dhoild be good.
I think that buying a "fixed flow" pipe is an error.
you could buy the exact perfect pipe for your motor the way it is now, then find after motor work that you have the exact wrong pipe.
and loud does not always equal performance.
my suggestion is the supertrapp supermeg, a tunable pipe that can be adjusted to match changes in the motor, or to riding style moving the power response where you want it.
the choice of end cap will allow control of noise, and a super free-flowing pipe can be not much louder than stock with the high frequencies
worth looking into.
( the made for S/E nightstick and fatshots are similar, and can be altered to be very similar by changing the endcap and discs)
for mods I think that stage 1 is the best bang for buck performance, while retaining mpg and reliability.
building up the motor finds the next weakest link in the chain.
Yes it is a 103 but the stage 4 puts 10.5 to1 pistons , cam , ported heads , clutch spring, perfect fit pushrods, 49 state street legal 103hp 110ftlb torque, maintains factory warranty .
the Idea of adjustable mufflers is interesting i will have to look into that.
Thanks for the info
