Default Michelins

I am thinking about going with Michelin Commander II's for my 09 road king. Anybody have experience with them? Also, the rear tire, a Dunlop, has a fair amount of thread left. Any thoughts on riding different brands of tires between the front and rear? Is it crazy and stupid to do so, should I just suck it up and replace both at the same time?

I just put Commander II's on my Ultra and they
do ride great IMO, I also had good tread on the
Dunlop American Elite that were taken off, I still
have it with 6/32 left after 12,000 miles. I changed
for the simple reaso as I am about to do the
"Run For The Wall" and wanted fresh shoes.......
Will be able to do a realworld evaluation after
I get back from the RUN.

I just posted this question the other day, since they don't make Elite 3s for our bike I was also thinking about the Commanders, as I do not want the Dunlop on my bike anymore. I just want to try something new. I will be watching this post to see the real world performance.

My last set of tires was the Michelin Commanders. I was very happy with them, got 20K from the front and 15K from the rear.
I replaced them with Metzlers only because I always want to try that brand. What I discovered is that the Michelins provide a much softer ride compared to the Metzlers.
When this set wears out I will return to the Michelins.

Perhaps it was this thread that got me wondering about the Michelin vs the E3 Dunlops. My bike is an 08 RK so I checked the appropriate size for my machine, don't know if the comparison carries over for the size for the 09 and newer. The load for the Michelin is 908 pounds and for the E3 it is 930 pounds. May or may not be significant depending on how heavily you load your scoot on trips. At 14,500 miles on the E3s, I'm still happy. I measured tread depth last night if the wear rate remains constant, I should get about 28,000 out of the rear tire.
