Well after reading this I'm wondering if I should go with 18" apes. I'm 6'2" with a 35" reach and all of you close to that are saying you should have went 18's. Are you on stock height seats or are the apes shoulder height and you want higher? I'm wanting shoulder height sitting up straight.
No replies yet on cable/wire ext sizes for 16" on newer bikes?
I went with the 16" Hill country customs kit for $899.95 plus $40 for shipping. Everything is chromed out with stainless steel braided cables. It cost me a total of $1,400 for the bars and install including buying grips. If I would have bought everything from the stealership it would have cost $2,350 installed. I could have went with 18" apes though. I'm 6'1" by the way. The HCC Ape Kit comes prewired with controls and levers on. It includes the cables as well.
Am going this route also. But I am installing the kit myself. This seems the easiest way to go.
I had wild 1 14s on my RKC. I'm 6'0 and debated 14 or 16". Decided to go 14s and regretted it. they were super comfortable but 16s would have fit me better.
I have heard plenty of guys say the wish they had gone higher but never heard one say, damn, wish i would have bought shorter bars.
I'm 5'-10", 31" inseam and the Carlini 16" are awesome. They measure out just over 17" tall and they are wider than most (about 42" grip to girp) but I love them. The 1.5" thick bars really match well with the front end of the road king. Oh yeah the thicker bars make it easier to pull the wires through too.
As for wire extensions and cables I cut, and soldered my wires, (even the TBW), and just contacted Dr. V-Twin for the cables.
Just as a reference - 14" Wild 1's it's recommended for +6 on a clutch and brake Road King. The bar manufacture should be able to tell you exactly what you'll need.

I didn't see where it states the lengths on their site. I was hoping someone that had installed could verify their cable lengths were correct.
I'm 6'1 and have the 16's. With the backrest I do sorta feel like I'm in a recliner, and I love it. My bars are just a little bit above shoulder height.
When I was doing research on bars, I found a post where someone said "you'll never wish you had gotten shorter bars".

It won't, you'll have to call the manufacture. And, some resellers won't even tell you b/c they don't want to be responsible or any mistakes. Those who are sponsor on this site and are mentioned often know. They've done plenty installs and will recommend exactly what you'll need.
So stay away from those who won't help and buy from the sponsors here who will. Just IMO
