Default Ape sizing - Road King

Alright, I'm tired of searching even though the topic has been beat to death, so I'm asking.

I am looking at going to 14 or 16 apes for my 12 RK, most likely Wild 1, to get the bars at or just under my shoulders. I am getting the typical upper back and shoulder burn on anything longer than about an hour. Currently I have to slouch pretty good to attempt to alleviate the problem. If I'm sitting up like I want, the top of the stock windshield comes to about my nose. I'm 6'2, 33 inseam, 35 sleeve. I'm on the stock seat and don't plan on changing it.

I've sat on a few bikes with apes, but none of them RKs. Of the bikes I've been on with apes, it seems like the combo of shoulder high apes and a backrest would turn the bike into a recliner.

Suggestions? Any info on extensions would help as well as I haven't dug that far yet.

I had a 2009 RoadKing stock seat and the Harley 16" bars. I'm 5'9 and I was SO happy with the 16". At first I thought they might be too high but not the case. I could ride ALL day with them (unlike the stock bars). They entire job was spendy but IMO it was worth every dime between the looks and comfort.

I'm 5-10 30" inseam and I have 14" Wild 1s with a Mustang backrest on the stock seat (not pictured).

My hands are just a tad lower than my shoulders, and I love these bars.

Keithhu, I've seen your bike a few times in my forum search, and it's one of my favorites. Clean.

I'd suggest Magnum Sterling Chromite II

At 6'2" I'd have to 16"'s. We have apes on our shop softail and are running 16"'s. The top triple tree on baggers is a bit lower than it is on softails. We are not close to 6'2".
