I have a SG but the principle is the same...I have 12.5 chubbies but if I was to do it over again I would go with 14" and I'm 5'9 so I have no doubt that 16 is probably what you should go with at your height. Believe me that the back and neck strain will soon be gone after the install. Been to sturgis and back and had no problems so don't even question it...Just do it.

I plan on doing 16s and now am trying to get a list of everything needed for install, including lengths of the cables and wire extensions (WO509, Magnum Sterling Chromite cables). I plan on doing some patient deal searching so I'm not looking to buy a kit. The goal is if I do it myself, I have everything I need prior to breaking the bike down to minimize riding downtime. If anyone has a list I'd appreciate it ('12 RK, cruise, non-ABS).

I am removing 16" and installing 12" monkey bars on a flhx, Im removing +12s and yaffe says to use +8 on 12" bars, but they look to be like they will be too long. I was able to use the stock wire harness and am thinking of going +6 and maybe even +4, still calculating. Ive read somewhere here some are able to use the stock clutch cable if you dont go thru the fairing hole. Maybe this will give you some kind of reference point.

Somewhat, but the routing is different since you have a fairing. From what I've read in searching, my best guess is +8 for 16". I have yet to confirm this though.

I have a bike real similar to Keith's, except a Mustang seat instead of the stocker. The Mustang is about an inch or two taller than stock, and I'm 6'4" with a 34" inseam. I wouldn't want any taller for long distance riding, between it and the backrest it's just about perfect.

If I were to do mine again I think I'd still go 14".

I searched the net and found a place that had the cables with the chrome switches already attached, I think it was 16-18' bars. I ran the cables and cut the old ones and soldered them together. Not sure if you have to replace the clamp, I had to. Change the bushings with Poly bushings. Hope you have a torque wrench.

At your height I'd definitely go with 16" apes. Im 6'0" and went with 14" on my RK, but wish I'd went with 16". Live and you learn I guess.

I like how they look but like everyone else not sure if I can get 14's.. I think you just have to do it, Unless someone has more to add
