Default Engine Vibration

2007 Elctra Glide has a awful vibration at idle. The vibration just started and the bike has 33k miles...Any ideas?

Check to front motor mount. If just the fairing is shaking, check the brackets on the inner fairing.

My Road King needed the front motor mount replaced at about that mileage but wasn't as violent as you describe. You can try tightening it down to determine if that is the problem.

2007 motors were the first with the crankshaft run-out issues. Hopefully not yours, but if you don't find the cause of the vibration, you may want to investigate your cranks deviation.

The cam cover comes off the right side, and the cam sprockets/plate are removed from the pinion shaft, ( that's the 'end' of the crankshaft )

A gauge is attached /clamped to the cases and the needle is placed against the side of the pinion. The engine is rolled over and the gauge will measure the "wobble."

.000 to.003" in spec for '99 to '06 models.

.000 to.012" new spec for 07 and later.

The 'new' 07 cast crank with no Timken lefty bearing support ( removed in 03 models,) combined to cause a problem with crank 'slippage' so Harley increased "acceptable" run out to .012", (because they couldn't fix it.)

.012" will rattle your dental fillings.

Google cam install video or crankshaft run out and you'll get some pics.

Good Luck!
