I did the same on my 2012. The cat was cooking my wifes left foot. Since the change I have seen no diference in MPG, but a huge difference in heat. That has made for a very comfortable and happy wife.
does your wife ride backwards? i can see heat on the right foot, but.........
i've put on over 25,000 miles since removing my cat. no noticeable difference in mpg (that can be atttributed to that)
plus: sounds better/louder, much cooler
minus: haven't found any yet.
i just had my bike dynoed by jamie at fuelmoto. he said he experienced no problems tuning my bike. if there was any cross talk, i would think that it would be quite evident on a dyno.
Just gutted a stock pipe from a 2009. Did a trap door cut, using a pneumatic grinder with a cutting wheel. That kept the compressor running almost constantly. Getting the Cat out can be a challenge. What ever they use to stick that cat in there is amazing. Now all I have to do is get it tigged back up, and when the bike gets back from the shop, install, and tune it up. I did this to get rid of the heat. The heat is making the wire harness that runs next to the frame pretty brittle. Hopefully this will cool things down noticeably. I also suspect the Cat was responsible for the problems with the brake switch requiring a recall.
