I have a 2012 and I went to WalMart and bought a round foam bumper pad and put on the black plastic back bumper and on the back of the license plate and mine stopped. So yes mine was on the license plate making the noise

My rickitty rackitty came from the bracket that runs underneath the rear fender. You can see on one side that they placed a rubber silencer about 1x2 to quite it down, but being held with only a sticky adhesive the other side fell off. And viola, the rattle has been commenced..!

I had the same problem with the license plate rattling. Very annoying from the noise and the fact that you even have to fix something that obviously had little thought behind the design, or lack of I should say.

There is a lot about these $20k machines that lacks much thought in their design. A $9k Jap Cruiser has more thought put into it.
