No they say not to use the chrome type covers with lowers not the fined type.

ORIGINAL: ROADIE49

I have them on my RK, they look great. Not a problem with heat, but they do
warn you not to use these on a bike with lowers.

I have them on my Road Glide and love them. They look great and I haven't noticed them holding in any heat. I think the design with the fins (and the light material) will keep them from getting too hot.
Well, I don't think anyone would "notice" it. But I still think it does prevent that area of the engine from "breathing". Will it adversely effect the engine? I doubt it. But in Florida, I try to givethis air cooledengine every advantage possible. Because the fins are not an integral part of the engine, they DO NOT dissapate heat, as the jug fins do. The engines are adversely affected by high temps, thus the "Heat Mangement System". If I'm not mistaken, the only contact point are a couple of screws. It's one of thereasons I don't add transmission covers, oil line covers, etc...Plus I would rather see the oil lines and gasket seals to catch any problems early. I was not aware of the warning regarding lowers, and wonder WHY they are not recommended (chrome only or chromed and finned).

In any case, if I lived in a cooler climate, I might not be concerned (YeahI would, I'm **** that way). They do look great, certainly 100% better than the large cavity that is therenow. For some reason, I think they look especially good on the non-polished engines.

Thanks all,
Well finally had a few minutes in between everything else and was able to put both the visor bezels on all the lights and the Finned Headbolt covers and what a differance the headbolt covers made it completes the look on the engine, overall a easy install the front one easier than the rear, for some reason on the rear the petcock was in the way and I had to pull the plug to get the headbolt cover in, but all turned out well.

Talking about holding heat, I went out to the Easyrider show on Saturday in Pomona So Calif and ran across this company that actually came up with a billet piece that when on, brings the chrome headcover all the way over to look complete like the opposite side of the bike, they left a groove for the plug wire to fit in (everyhting is covered) looked good but for heat these would never let it breath, plus $$$ 350.00 set.

I have them as well. They are not very noticable when on since they clean the look of the motor up. I think that gap (for lack of better terms) stands out more without them.

I went to buy a set of these for my '06 RK Classic and the sales guy at the dealer pointed out that my engine fins are diamond cut and the Headbolt bridge covers are not. He said he didn't think they'd look right. We held them up to a bike on the floor and he sees correct. Anybody used these with the diamond cut fins?

So you can't notice the difference between the stock diamond cut engine fins and the non-diamond cut Headbolt bridge covers? That's my concern. I don't want to spend the money and have them not match.

I have the chrome headbolt bridge on my RK and have them for my Dyna but haven't installed them yet (can't get to that side of the bike until I move it out of the garage).

They might look good with the diamond cut heads
