The only person that you have any control over is the one that looks back at you in the mirror, so take care of that guy first...
then practice the SIPDE technique: Scan, Identify, Plan, Decide & Execute. This simple technique will help to eliminate the rest of your issues.
I saw the guy sitting there waiting to turn. I just didn't expect him to rip out of there to try and get through the traffic opening ahead of me, thereby cutting me off. Or maybe I did and that's why I avoided him. I more expected him to start out slower and go through the opening behind me. There was plenty of room for that. He was ether in a big hurry or just didn't see me. Ive always had a little more faith in other riders than cars. That WAS a weakness on my part.

And that is exactly what he was thinking at the exact same time you were! That's how accidents happen, assuming what the other guy will do. As you already know, the key to avoid an accident is never assume "what" they will do, but assume they could do anything, even if it seems wrong.
I know as many impatient dick heads on bikes as I do in cars, it doesn’t surprise me at all.
and I’m about to give up riding in large groups also. Too many newbee idiots there too.

I started riding motorcycles when I was 9 years old, I am now 57. So yes I was a newbie once.
I grew up in the country, so riding a bike without causing trouble was tollerated. We rode all over, took all back roads, but rode in town to ball practice no problem for years. It was a different time then.
I have been run into twice (from the rear/rear ended) from a friend on a motorcycle that was a newbie.
Two years ago I watched in my mirror as a newbie (of 1 month) 2 bikes behind me locked up his brakes to keep from running into the bike ahead of him and got thrown from his bike. He was airlifted out to a hospital.
Just this past Janurauy on a group ride (75 bikes) a bike (newbie bike rider of 2 months) two bikes ahead of me locked up his brakes to keep from running into the bike ahead of him and got thrown from his bike. He was airlifted out to a hospital.

Gave up on medium and large runs long ago. As for the guy that passed you on the turn, there are alot of reckless bikers out there. You just have to beware in these situations. Have had worse happen to me and just take it in stride.
I was going to make a left turn into a parking lot from a street with a turning lane......................I slowed down and just started into the turn when another Harley that was waiting to turn left from a parking lot on the right side of the street takes off like a bat out of hell and cuts me off..........................
I was taught that the "vehicle on the right has the right of way" in an intersection.
I may have misunderstood your situation though.

It wasn't an intersection. I was on the street turning left into a lot and he was turning right onto the street for a lot. I thought the vehicles already on the street have right of way over someone turning on the street from a lot but I'm over it and it's a good lesson learned so Im done now. Thanks for listening to me vent.
