I carry it in with me -too paranoid to leave it on the bike I guess. In a restaurant it sits on the table or seat next to me and at the store it's in the shopping cart. Never lost one yet...

I have a full face helmet thatI put over the backrest, on the sissy bar, than secure it withthe homemade, plastic covered, cable, I made up. Cost about $5.00 in parts.I lock the cable on the outside of my saddle bag when I am riding, so it is easy to get to and doesn't hit up against a paint or chrome surface. It's a good enough setup to keep the average low life from walking away with the helmet. You can see the cable hanging off my saddle bag in my signature picture.

I lock mine on the rack or sometime just leave them on the seat, it all depends where I am and how long I will be away from the bike.

If I am going to be somewhere where I can keep an eye on the bike, just set it somewhere on the bike. If a new helmet or somewhere I'm not sure of, I use this cable-on-a-hockeypuck thing I picked up at some bike shop. Rolls up like a tape measure and the lock is built in. I can use the same device for the helmet and the jacket
Like others have said, it would stop a casual thief but not a determined one.

I saw several post where people lost saddle bags and someone even lost a detachable tour pac.
I worry about this with the quick detachable tour pak and saddle bags I have. I was wondering if I should perm. mount them. that would slow them down if they try and steal em.

I have the detachable sissy bar, so I bought the locking bracket for one side. I don't understand why HD doesn't sell the detachable stuff with locking brackets. You have to buy the locks separately.
