Yes im short 5'8 an I brake with the rear brake and use the handbrake at the very end if I need to, then I drop my legs, I dont drag my feet while slowing down etc.. I stop then try to get my feet down because im short I need my feet to go straight down not ahead of me, I need to be able to hold up the bike with a strong stance.

Sometimes on the way down I hit her feet or the passenger boards an it makes me a bit nervous for a second.

I agree 100%... this is right on

You may want to have your seat narrowed, Mean City Cycle can help

FFS use both your brakes, not just the rear! All the time. You don't have good control of the bike using the rear on it's own. You're taller than me and while I understand the comment you make about your legs touching the passenger boards, you will find that practice makes perfect! Although I have been riding a dresser for over 20 years!

As for your GF, get her a decent seat! That pad in your photo probably affects the way she sits and she deserves better! Her sit bones (pelvis) are wider apart than yours, so she should have a nice wide comfy seat similar to yours. That may help her sit in a better posture and improve her clearance with the bars. If not, use board raisers to lift her feet a little.

I have the Kury Adjustable Passenger Pegs and have taught my GF as we are coming to a stop to raise the floorboards, put her toes on the pass pegs and rest her heels on the top of the floorboards, this way I have room for the back of my legs to fit. I am 5'6" with short legs plus I have these big calves so I need all the room I can get. This works for us just takes practice to figure what works for you.

Had the same issue, and my wife insists on wearing really pointy-toed boots when we ride, so her dainty feet are always in my way when stopping, maneuvering, etc. I installed the Harley Reduced Reach Passenger footboard kit (50789-99B) which helped quite a bit, but we (I) still had some problems. Then I installed the Harley Adjustable Auxillary Passenger Peg mounting kit (54157-10). Even better, but will not work with the Reduced Reach footboards. We are still working through the pointy-toed boots issue, but I believe she has pretty much determined that fashion is more important than stopping safety. I've almost got her trained to point her toes outward when we are coming to a stop, but sometimes she needs a helpful reminder. I also installed the 2010 LOW seat on my '09 Ultra so I felt a little more in control during stopping and slow speed maneuvering.

Coming from non dressers I had some of the same issues. Whether you realize it or not, often you let you feet down a little early and tend to let them go back a little on taking off. At least that's what I determined. This works fine on many bikes, and worked fine for me for years but not on a dresser with full passenger boards. Plus the boards on your bike are lower than on others. Mainly it just takes practice. Complete stop before feet down, usually slight left lean and left foot down first works for me. At first I exaggerated picking my feet straight up or even forward on take off until everything clicked. Just my experience, but searching previous posts on this issue seemed to confirm the need to slightly modify stopping and starting habits.

On the money. Try to have the feeling that you are putting your foot down too far forward, you will smooth out a lot. My picture shows the passenger friendly rear crash bars. As others have said the adjustable brackets or going to pegs like an SG helps.
BTW Do NOT let your foot drag on slow parking lot maneuvers...if it gets hung under the rear floorboard it can get ugly in a hurry!

Default pegs

Those cool crash bars dont fit on an 05 just 09 an later, Now im unsure if I drop my feet early or not etc... U have me wondering, As far as the seat goes my girl is little she likes the passenger pillion on the bike ive tried to spend money on other seats lol trust me! we all are always looking for a new toy.

I did buy the adjustale passanger adjustable pegs by Kurykyn ..Id like to try those out got them for 95 bux on the forum today , Can I just use the adjustable passenger pegs and keep the rear floor boards up during local driving?

With all ive said i am ALSO going to try to put my feet out when completely stopped because im always trying to be a better rider both solo and 2 up.

This is my first Harley and first dresser, Ive only put 1700 miles on the bike doing local 120 miles runs etc.. So im learning.
