I have the adjustable HD seat and it works. Many say once you get the seat adjusted (non-adjustable) why change it. I ride in all kinds of layers of clothes and find the adjust-ability great to accommodate what I am wearing or on a long trip a changer of position for a break. It will adjust forward to let a passenger on.

Thanks for the advice y'all gave. I had been hesitant about buying one, but the CVO comment helped me out. My passenger needs a little more leg room. Thanks.

Well, I ended up ordering the Mustang backrest from Dennis Kirk. Good price, free shipping, no tax, and about 19% off MSRP. Delivered promptly, exactly as ordered. Install would have been super easy, except for the aforementioned modified seat I have - stock seat pan, but the slot for the backrest was moved back almost 2 inches. Soooo, a bit of creativity was required to get it to work.

I drilled-out two new holes in bracket's mounting base - as far fwd on the base as possible. This moved the bracket back about 1 1/4 inches, and since it was further back on the fender in this new position, the "tongue" bracket was also back and at a flatter angle than stock position. So I dealt with that by cutting a couple of 1" (length) spacers out of 0.5" ID aluminum tubing and picked up some longer mounting bolts. With a bit of patience, I was able to get it all buttoned-up solid and took it for a ride yesterday. Really makes a nice difference at fwy speeds without the windshield on - leaning against the backrest 'stead of hanging onto the bars so firmly. Looking fwd to seeing how it helps on longer rides. Haven't taken any photos yet, but if there's interest in seeing the final product or my shade-tree mods, let me know. Thanks again to all who provided input/suggestions.
