HELP NEED YOUR OPINION
Posted this in the Dyna forum, but, I know you touring guys own more than one kind of bike.
Hello all I need some advice about a bike I know nothing about. I have wanted to purchase a Street Bob since they came out. But now have ran across something I cant get out of my head. I am a Road King owner, but have the opportunity to buy a 2001 Dyna Super Glide Sport. The only thing is it has 77,000 miles. Top end redone ( 4 months ago) and Andrews gear drive cams and screamin eagle carb and air filter. Other than that just stock. What is it worth? Runs and drives great. Would 5,500 be in the ball park.

You need to remember that while the top end was rebuilt the rest of the bike still has 77,000 miles on it. Also keep in mind that could be 77,000highway miles or 77,000 burn out wheelie miles. The bottom end could be worn out along with everything else.$5,500 would be a good price if you dont have to sink a ton of money in it after the purchase to replace worn out parts. The market is flooded with used bikes right now. I think I would look around a bit for something with a whole lot less miles if I were you.......................BG
I think with the market being flooded with bikes like it is that you can find a deal on a bike with much lower miles. That is just my opinion and we all know what opinions are like.
70's and 80's Shovelheads are selling for considerablymore than 5,500. You might find a lower mileage bike, but I would doubt you find a better price. The market is soft, but not that soft.
Two years ago I sold a '95 Roadking with 80,000 on it for 9,000 and a '97 Lowrider with 47,000 on it forI think 8,500.
Regards,
Bill
