Default **Highest lift cam on STOCK springs**

Just as the title states, what is the highest lift you can get out of a set of stock 96" valve springs?? Is say .575 to much?

Depends who you ask, I had .575 lift cams with stock valve springs no problems.

That is what I am about to install tomorrow. Andrew swears up and down that it is to much lift. Others say it is good to go.

I need to take a simple hobby! LOL!

On Fuel Moto's website they list all of the Wood cams. Anything listed up to and including .575 takes the stock spring. There are some listed at .580 and up and it says they require high lift springs.

Tman sells a 600 lift cam that they claim is bolt in. Heres the thing... stck heads will be the deal killer on bolt in cams anyways. Get a cam with 550 lift and thats about all a stock head (07 up) can really use anyways. Do NOT buy into all the hype that the vendors on here subject us to. THEIR job is to part us from our hard earned money... that is IT! Listen to the folks at Andrews as Andrews grinds ALL the cams those other folks are trying to sell you anyways. NOTHING will out pace a set of 48s in a Stage 1 96 anyways... not for real with for real numbers.

The stock beehives are marginal at .550 in my book. I'll trust Andrews on this one. I'm not running stock springs with 54h cams.

I agree with Truk... but it's your decision as you know. Something I didn't see mentioned yet about OEM heads and pushing the 'lift limit' is that you just don't know if the OEM heads are really symetrical and within advertised specs sufficiently to take something slightly higher than Andrews recommends... let alone whether one of the cylinders is pushing above advertised specs.

I don't know of any builder (and I'm NOT one) who will push the OEM heads to the edge with lift without the clay test. Push it if you want, but assemble carefully and double check the valve/head clearances carefully before final torquing and firing that thing up.... my 2 cents is worth what you paid for it.....

depends which stock springs you have. my 07 had one type of springs, and some 09 take off heads I bought had behive springs. the behive springs are good for .560 lift which was enough for 257 cams , which is my current config.

You have a neighbor that probably knows quite a bit about that.
