I have a pair of Cortech jeans that I wear. They are leather lined in the knee, hip, and butt area with built in knee pads of the cheaper foam variety. Never been down in them though, so I can't say how well they actually work.
It seems like I get a little bit more paranoid every year that I ride. I haven't wrecked in now 12 years and about 80,000 miles, eventually my luck is going to run out. I'm looking at everything posted, I may grab something else for multi day rides. I'm kinda looking at stuff that is cool on a hot day but still protected. I bought a set of waterproof over pants a few years ago, they are great below 65 or so but torture in the summer.
My girlfriend wrecked her ninja going 35 last summer in jeans, it was not a pretty sight. She had a hole in knee, you could put your finger about 3/4" deep.
Jeans scare me, i've seen denim literally "bond" with road rashed skin....not pretty. I also have a pair of Fox ballistic nylon pants that I wear a lot. They look like regular black pants, but they zip off into shorts for when you aren't riding. pretty slick. they're lightweight too, great for summer.
Down here, it gets so hot, lots of people ride in shorts and flip flops.
I found something cooler.
Thin khakis, go comando, with the HD Ventilater pad.
Feels illegal...

That's cool, do the shorts end at the knees, roughly? I'll check that out. Just pack flip-flops and go, huh?
+2 . 500 Denier Cordura , Gore-Tex lined so rain proof and breathes to lets moisture out . Side zips make it easy on/off . I wear with LDcomfort underwear , very comfortable even in hot weather . Knee and hip armor . If I have to go down these are the pants I want to be in when it happens .I have black and think they look pretty sharp . Did I mention that they are AMERICAN MADE ?
I haven't slid with them yet, but I have a couple of pairs of Sliders cargo pants. They don't have any armor; they do have Kevlar on the seat and knee areas. Not as much protection as leather but better than denim, etc. IMO.
