I adjusted my clutch now it seems the lever doesnt pull all the way in, the slack is right in cable wondering if I tightened my jam nut to tight and messed something up ?????i can pull lever in but it seems like it doesn't go flush to grip.
08 street glide loosened clutch cable loosened jam nut turned Allen screw in till could feel resistance turned out 1/2 turn retightened jam nut adjusted cable .
I had problems with adjustment until I calapsed cable all the way which instructions never really says that. Only then was I able to do the rest and end up with a properly adjusted clutch pack.....cold ofcourse.....

Plus make sure after you adjust clutch pack you pull lever thre or more times to set the ramp.
Try it this way. Someone posted this method on the forum and you get spot on results every time.
Completely collapse the clutch cable. Gently hold clutch with your finger against the the grip while adjusting the clutch pack. As soon as you feel the slightest resistance on the clutch lever, find that sweet spot and then tighten the jam nut. Set the clutch cable until you have about 1/8" play. Squeeze clutch several times to set ramp.
I found my original cable stretched to the point I ran out of adjustment screw threads before I got the 1/8" freeplay...that was really annoying. Having to do again, I would adjust it at first service then dont touch it till 5 k or more. The replacement cable I got for my apes shows stock pull at 3 1/2" but wondered if a shorter pull would allow more adjustment room at 2 3/4" or even 2 1/2". That extra inch at the adjustment thread would be welcome. I thought about starting a thread on the subject for discussion but its hit or miss on how long the thread stays visible and how long Im willing to wait till I get viable intel. Havent figured out if title wording is critical or what it takes to get good participation. I started a thread once with ' who uses their rear brakes exclusively?' just to experiment to see what the participation level would be and was astounded that 17 + pages later it was still going. Then a badly needed info thread some time
ago and barely got any participation. Interesting to say the least.
