I recently traded my 08 dyna on a 2010 UC. It only had 3K on it. Absolutely love it. I just installed a K & N air cleaner. When I removed the stock backplate I had to unplug a small electronic device that the instructions from K&N failed to mention. I didn't install. Does anyone know what it is and do I need to reconnect it.
I'm viewing this on a kindle so I can't see it clearly but it looks like what I removed. it was glued to the backside of the factory back plate. I think there were two small wires attached to it.
The active intake solenoid (HDI models) opens a valve in the air cleaner to allow more air to enter at speeds greater than
43 MPH (70 km/h) with a throttle opening greater than 50%.
It helps the bottom end response. Be sure to keep all the parts you are removing. Removing the backing plate serves no real purpose other then making it sound like a silly Eureka vacum cleaner and if you have state inspections they are looking more and more at this type EPA violation.
thanks for your answer. Apparently K&N feels you don't need it with their supplied backplate attached. Maybe I'll take it apart again and figure out a way to put it back on there. I rarely post on this forum but I read it often. It is an awesome resource to be able to get sound advice on just about any problem you have.
