from 2007 on, hd is protecting us from ourselves and has installed a neutral safety interlock that will prevent the bike from starting if it is in gear and the clutch is not pulled.
but, regardless, it is still a good practice to get in the habit of always pulling in the clutch when you start, even if you are in neutral.
That's funny - I have an '07 and never knew that - but again, I always start in neutral and pull the clutch out of habit!
its just my luck that i bought an 06 rkc and all the things they changed to the 07 i want lol
i get a lurch on mine and a little bit of clutch slip when pulling the throttle back a little harder than normal so how do you adjust the clutch in the primary ?
is it the same as the bdl open belt drive style with the nut on the outside of an allen key you turn to adjust it ? if it is then i can do that lol
Adjust the cable first and see if that fixes your problem before adjusting the clutch. the clutch on my road king has never been adjusted but once at 3,000 miles by the mechanic doing the dyno tune. It has 87,000 miles on it now and the clutch works just fine. I have had to take the slack out of the cable several times. Just leave the proper amount of free play and I bet you'll get the results you are looking for.
