Default Speaker help?

My bike is down for bit and a friend insisted I ride his 01 Ultra until I get mine back up. Never owned a bagger....pretty nice ride to be sure.

The one he loaned me has a blown speaker. He is out of town and won't be back for a week and a half and I'd like to get it replaced for him as a thank you before I return the bike to him.

I called HD and they quoted me $80.00 for one speaker and I am wondering if anyone here in the touring section could point me to a good but less expensive alternative?

Because it's not my bike I will have a shop do the work so I'm looking at labor also and as much as I want to show my appreciation I am not in a postion to do it to the tune of several hundred dollars.

I did a search but all I found were threads regarding upgrading etc. I am looking for something comparable to stock.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Do you know the ohm rating of the speaker? If they 2 Ohm speakers I'll sell you the originals that I have ($30 for the set) or the JBL's that I replaced them with for ($50).

You can buy the BOOM! audio speakers from your local dealer for about $90. They sound nice and are a huge improvement over the stock HD speakers. With that year, the speakers should be 8 ohm. Pulling the outer fairing is really a pretty simple process. Three bolts up top, 2 on the sides and 2 on the bottom. Just do a search for it, there are tons of posts on this. There is one with pictures too. I'll see if I can find it.

Just follow the steps for the outer fairing removal.

I have a set of speakers that came out of my buddies Ultra when I gave him my set of Hertz Titans. You can have them if you want to come down to Mesa to pick them up. I will check tonight to be sure I still have them and what shape they are in. I dont remember there being anything wrong with them, just that I had a set of Titans laying around so we threw them his bike. It shows good character wanting to show your appreciation to your friend like that. BTW, we could have the speakers replaced in 30 minutes if you are willing to remove the fairing of your friends bike. It is a simple job.

I have a set of Hogtunes speakers that will work with that radio. I had them in a 2001 EGC.

Just found a set locally. Thanks to all that responded.

2of2...Really appreciate the offer but it's way to damned hot for me to be riding down to mesa right now. I went to Laughlin over the weekend and thought I was gonna die! Ain't as young as I once was that's for sure.

Thanks again to all that responded.

I know that it's an easy thing to install. Just didn't want to open up another man's bike without his knowledge (wanted it to be a surprise). Maybe I'll tell him I got new speakers when he gets back and offer to put them in for him.

Picked up the Speakers today and decided to go ahead and put em in. Just as I was buttoning the fairing back up I got the call that mine is ready. That worked out pretty good. I'll pick mine up in the morning, do a good detail on the Ultra my friend loaned me and all should be good with the world.
