I used the same 0.95 RT springs and Ricor Intiminators on my 2010 FLHTK.
Stock springs were 473mm and RT were 343mm so difference was 130mm.
The washers used with the Intiminators are 5mm thick total so I cut the spacer 125mm (~5"). This gave me exactly 5/8" sag.
To get the 1 5/8" sag I basically cut another spacer 100mm (4") and then sag was exactly 1 5/8".
Racetech supplies enough spacer tube to cut these two times. If I were you I'd start closer to 4" than 5" or 6". If the 4ish" doesn't work you can cut the rest of the tube in half and still have 5+" spacers to play with.
Also, I'm 185lbs and that sag was with just me on the bike.
Thanks for that. Can someone tell me if the sag is worked out with rider and bike weight included or do I start measuring where the static weight of the bike is?
Sag is the total compression with rider as compared to unloaded fully extended with the front end off the ground
Thankyou, just assembled my forks today and hopefully will get a chance to fit them in the triple. I'll post my tube cut length and other specs on Jasons thread with the intiminator mod so he can add it to his data collection which may be of help to others. Managed to go for a ride as there was a break in the rain yesterday. I ended up cutting the tube length at 4" as a starting point. With the bike lowered, no rider, there was 1.06" (27mm) sag, and 1.45" (37mm) with rider, so thought great just cut 0.19" (5mm) and I should be good. Next was a little confusing cos I push down on the front forks whilst not on the bike using the front light bar to check my measurements again and I got 1.25" (32mm). So I guess the friction of the fork bushings and spring rebound have some bearing on this 0.19 (5mm) difference, so to get the sag set up right I just extended the forks and let them compress (no rebounding them) with bike and rider, great then all I need is 5mm taken out, so before I cut the spacer another 5mm I went for a 6 mile ride to see how it felt anyway and on the way home, fuel light was on so I fill the gas tank. Well bugger me with a full tank at home a measured the bike preload again and that 5mm that I was going to cut wasnt required as the full tank added the extra preload, so is the sag best set up with or without a full tank? As for the ride difference well its better than stock and more sure footed but I feel that it can be much improved as I do prefer the plush cruiser style suspension on the straight rides, just hated the wallowing and cornering attributes that stock offered, so I'll email fabrik8r and hope he dosnt mind doing his mod if he has time as I noticed the R/H fork is leaking oil, dam it, new seals etc fitted so not sure whats happened there, so back on the lift she goes and do the forks again so might as well get the mod done thanks to fabrik8r for his extensive research and a much improved product.
PS: Anyone know why new fork seals would leak. The L/H side was fine but when I removed the R/H side and pumped it on the ground the oil was seaping past the inner seal quite easily
