I have Monster Ovals and still enjoy them when riding every day to work. But when I'm at Rallys and biker events, I want to roar and rasp like the rest.
What are the loudest and cheapest slip ons out there?
If this only for the rally, I would go with slip-on's but if you do some homework you'll find that lately there has been police check points looking for all sorts of odd things outside of the DUI excuse for having these check points. If your going to a rally in a county that as a DB limit you could find your day done early.
I actually like my rush slip-ons, if I want them louder I just change out the baffle. Something to think on.
You are a fuking genius. You have it all figured out... only share ideas, perspectives, and opinions if it is the same as the OP's. Anyone who does otherwise is an asshat. Got it.
dohadex, I've been to Sturgis Bike Week, Biketoberfest and Bike Week in Daytona multiple times and the riders with obnoxiously loud pipes are in the very small minority. If you think that other riders enjoy riding behind you or near you, you're mistaken--unless you only ride with others w/ obnoxiously loud pipes. If you think other bikers enjoying a brew, a meal, or a Starbucks at an outdoor facility while you and your ilk ride by with obnoxiously loud pipes you're mistaken; ditto civilians who don't suspend their regular activities simply because there's a rally in PC.
Bottom line: obnoxiously loud pipes are simply an expression of your selfishness and disregard for others (including many bikers) enjoyment of what they may be doing as you "roar" around on your bike.
I'm not going to change your mind; just understand that obnoxiously loud pipes are an annoyance to bikers and civilians alike.
Carl
PS: I've had Rinehart TD's on my bike for 5+ years and they're not what anyone would call a quiet pipe.

Now thats funny. Expressing your individuality by doing like everybody else.
Here's a quote I read on some other site.
Bikers who ride around on big noisy machines enjoy the attention they get, particularly from annoyed passersby. They see themselves as free-spirited rebels following their own rules. They are not outlaws, they are overbearing.

Different opinions make the world go round. That's not what makes you an asshat.
But entering a thread titled "I want loud pipes" just to say that it's ruining things for the rest of us is like going to your buddy's bonfire party just to tell everyone fire is dangerous. It's obnoxious and no one wants u there. And THAT makes u an asshat.
Try Cycle Shack or Wild Pig. Both have a baffle that's easy to remove when you want to make more thunder at rallies. Pulling baffles is much easier than swapping pipes.
The times they are a changin'. Everything was cool where I live until about 2 years ago when a bunch of local boys ruined it all for the rest of us. They would, and still sometimes do, tear *** around with drag pipes and come home in the wee hours, 1-3 am, raising hell with the throttle. They have zero respect for their neighbors, zero respect for their fellow bikers, and zero concern/care what happens with future local or national legislation. It's all about them; me,me,me, look at me; rest of ya'll can f**k-off. Well, folks around here where always cool with bikes but they reached a point where they had enough. So NOW, we have squad cars equipped with sound meters looking for the EPA stamp and bike-sensitive neighbors with camera equipped smart-phones in-hand ready to call in a loud bike complaint; sucks royally.
This issue isn't new at all, there's a lot of history with it. You can trace it back to the days of the Silent Gray Fellow. Early Harleys were advertised as wonderfully quiet bikes, because, the locals were banding together and turning up the heat on bikers for scaring their horses and disturbing the peace. Well, history is repeating itself and the locals are banding together again. Here is rather mild read on the subject: http://www.allaboutbikes.com/feature...nt-grey-fellow
I understand the need to "roar and rasp" once in awhile when you get a wild hair, but damn man, now the locals here are on the warpath against bikes; especially, since they're done with their successful anti-smoking campaign. The loud-pipe guys gave them something new to turn their attention towards. And if you think it's strictly a local issue, you are way wrong. These individual local anti-biker groups that are forming in communities around the country feed off of each other and are growing in strength nationally with each and every incident/event.
Personally, I'm checking these guys out 'cause they seem to have a neat idea offering 3 different baffles that can be changed in 5 minutes, and the price seems right. http://www.americancustom.com/ Around here, bike rallys and other events are usually held around towns, or in town, and NOT in the country so thousands of bikers "roaring and rasping" are starting to turn the folks off towards bikers, all of us. I'm not a perfect angel, but I do try to cruise in and out of my neighborhood and the downtown areas in stealth mode and save my wild hair moments for the countryside, there's plenty of it here.
Common sense and smartly timed moderation will allow us to continue to enjoy after-market goodies for years to come. I'm really hating the idea of a bunch of Volvo drivin' country clubbers, wearing polo shirts with little alligators on them, all getting together with the rest of the locals and stripping away our freedom of choice, whether it be pipes, helmets, or in some communities bikes all together. Unfortunately, the me, me, me, look at me loud pipes boys, revving the hell out of their bikes in town, truly do have a real chance of taking us all down with 'em. Here endeth the sermon.

this is so stupid and many of your comments is why this forum is turning into a candy *** forum , the op never said he was going to ride around town , in and out of neighborhoods raising hell , you are all assuming he is not responsible enough to ride easy when he should and only let them bark when it wouldn't be an issue , for years the biker community was made up of people who didn't judge one another regardless of their differences , but the times they are a changing just read this thread , today it seems to be made up of a bunch of holier than thow preachers who think they have all the answers and are more closed minded than the ones they are preaching to
