Thanx guys, I will try to post what the investigators find in the end. He wasn't drinking or impaired in any fashon and I have known him about 40 years so, I have a tendency to believe it was something along the lines he laid out.
A friend of mine bought a 06 Glide and 2 weeks later during a ride on his (new to him) Bike, the steering locked up going straight as he went into a curve. This guy has ridden for decades so I have to believe that the bike failed. He said AFTER the crash (Had Shoulder rebuild and His GF is in a neck brace with broken vertebrae) he heard of a guy that had his bike do the same thing and he ended up with a Broken Leg. Anyone heard of this ever happening on an 06?
Same thing happen to me.I had just bought a used 2002 Road King Electric Glide
I live 100 miles from where I bought bike and 15 miles before I got home come to a small curve running 55 and riding on the double yellow in some deep truck ruts come out the ruts and to the other set the bike would not turn and just kept going straight had to jump off the back and I rolled a 120ft med a vac to hospital stayed in hospital 28 days so I can believe your story!!!Did the man put a law suit out on Harley? I meant to tell you the bike only had 35,000 miles on it.
be that as it may - but the forks need to be turned all the way in one direction to engage the lock. This is hte case with my 06 FLHX. If the bars are not turned all the way, the lock will not engage.
No way the forks/bars were turned that much during normal riding.
