Done it before and will probably do it again at some point. Along with occasional short sleeve shirt and some times no helmet. Road rash sucks no matter what part of the body it's on. A concaved skull also sucks but everyone takes chances at some point on a bike....

I live in Miami, I dont see anything wrong with riding in shorts. No one knows your riding skills better than you, if you think its ok go for it.

Ha. I did that once. The skin off the inside of my calf is still sizzled to my pipes.

Yep, it is.

My usual outfit is shorts, deck shoes, t-shirt, and no helmet.

If it gets cold enough to require a jacket, it's usually too cold for me to ride.
I hope you are kidding. 55 degrees with leathers (yes, with chaps) on is perfect riding. Protected, comfortable and minimal waving.

I never ride in shorts, but I don't know how much protection my Khakis would be in a slide.

I ride in shorts once in a while, on short trips. Honestly after burning myself though, I don't enjoy it as much as i used to. I'm always paranoid that I'll accidentally brush the pipes, or catch a bee, or even the small rocks hurt more on the bare legs.

I've been wanting to get a couple pairs of those cargo pants that zip off into shorts. I think they'd be really good for riding in. They're far from being in style these days, so I haven't found them in any stores for a while...
I have a pair of them made of ballistic nylon. good for riding. Unzip when I get off the bike, and zip the legs back on when i get back on.

The one time I rode with shorts on, got something that looked really similar. Won't do that again.
