Overweight?
As a former Nyer who moved to the Midwest in 1978, I think OP's original remark was what we call "kibbitzing", a good natured ribbing, that often happens at a fast pace. Frequently, people will cross the line, apologize, they are forgiven and the ball busting continues.
I know in the Midwest, people don't do this, and have less tolerance for smartasses. I frequently have to bite my tongue here, and do get in trouble for speaking bluntly.
Please cut BP some slack.

Amen.

i'm sure glad everything settled down in here.
I think the "BIG" problem here was this.
The OP titled the thread Overweight in reference to the BIKE limits as in, are we going to be over the max weight of the bike, he did not come on the forum asking if he was overweight or for weight loss or health advice
and as someone who was legitimately new and asking for advice the first thought for most of us is not to give him a rash of **** about his weight
glad he got the advice needed to ride safe
to bad it got wrapped up in the internet BS **** storm

When the OP said that, I thought he was indulging in some self-deprecating humor, indicating that he knew he had to lose weight, and was a good sport.
So I thought OP's post was a natural reaction. I am glad it settled down too. Was getting kind of nasty in here.
Ride safe, everyone.
