My older version SE Comp makes the same noises when starting/idling if the bike has been sitting for a week/longer but does quite down after a brief warm up. Running Hd Formula 1+.
Keeping my fingers crossed....
So dropped my bike off at stealer weekago monday!! I did drop it without an appoinment so I did expect it to be done within 1 or 2 days!
I called yeterday, we have it all doen ready to go!! I said what did they do to it??
We cleaned the compensator!!!! I said what?? yep cleaned it !!
So i go to pick it up I said did they ride it to make sure noise is gone??
yep all ready to go !!
So I ride home, guess what noise still there but not as bad!
I ride back to dealer today, tell the manager still making noise!
He said ok, well put in a new one!
He also took me out to the shop and showed me one out of another bike!!
He said this is the 3rd one this bike has had!!
So taking it back next tuesday for another one to be put in!!!

My understanding is that the SE compensator was installed in all the 2012 touring models. I'm not sure if that's true but I had to replace mine at 1458 miles. Damn thing was clattering so loud I couldn't hear myself think and it started vibrating something terrible. The dealer replaced it with another SE compensator. I asked if I could make an appointment for 2916 miles to get it replaced.
Getting another new SE compensator tommorow!!
Hope this one last longer than 1 year!!!
I read somewhere that if (when) the crankshaft "scissors" - slips on the crank pin - and the runout goes out of spec, it can damage the compensator. I wonder if that's the reason for all the short-lived comps lately?
The MOCO recently raised the runout limit to something like .012", which is much higher than it used to be, in an apparent effort to avoid warranty replacment of so many of their now-cheaply-made cast crankshafts.
