Road King or Road King Custom? Road Kings and Road King Classics come with the regular dresser shock. Customs have the shorter shock, that may give a choppier ride.

Default RE: shocks

I changed shocks on my RG from stock air to Progressive 13" 440. They rode a bit stiff for my weight (165), but the tech guys told me the shock should be ok. I then tried Works Dual Spring TPL Black tracker Shocks. They were less bulkier than the Progressives and supposedly made for my weight and bike. The first time I rode them over the freeway potholes, I had to hang on for life! I talked to a guy named Sandi and he tode me that the 13" shock should be at 12-121/4" when I sat on the bike (Customer Service wasn't that great). Well, with all the adjustments made, it came to 11" eye to eye. Even though Works guarantee their shocks for 30 days, this guarantee does not apply to a return but to a custom re-spring/re-valving of your shocks.
I bought my Progressives at MAW online. I think the ride is up to the individual and the style of riding. I have decided to put back on the Progressives and will probably sell the Works on Ebay. My .02....
