I have an '07 Ultra. I have the RF PBR300X4 amp installed. Radio is a HK with RCA output modification. I have the front RCA connected to the amp and currently it is powering only the fairing speakers (Hertz 6.5"). Rear speakers are normal radio powered. Amp is set to 2 channel setting.
I am adding the speakers to the lowers (also Hertz 6.5") which brings us to my question.
How should I wire this up?
I ran wiring from speakers to the open "rear speaker" output connection on the amp.
Speakers come on but barely. If I switch out the connections at the amp the lowers work fine but the fairing speakers are basically dead.
What am I doing wrong? I want the fairing speakers and lower speakers powered by amp and leave the rear pods on normal power.
I know this can be done I just can't figure it out though.
First off, ditch the RCA's, that amp works 100% better taking the signal from the speaker wires.
As far as the front 4 speakers..Use the front outputs for both channels. Run one channel to the fairing and one channel to the lowers.
Leave the rears like you have them.
Crank it up and enjoy.
Good luck!
My understanding is set to 2 channels it will drive all 4 outputs off the front speaker inputs. Set to 4 channel it needs all 4 inputs to drive all 4 outputs.
I am not understanding though how I wire 4 speakers to 2 channels.
You are saying to feed the front speaker leads from the radio to the amp, correct? Yes.
But what about from the amp to the speakers?
Should amp be set to 2 channel or 4? 2 channel.
Thanks for the help!
The 2ch/4ch switch is for the inputs. Use two channels for input and you get 4 channels output by selecting the 2ch position of the switch.
Twist your speaker leads together for all 4 speakers making sure not to cross polarities (all +'s in one bundle and all -'s in another) and attach them to the appropriate lead on your amp. Don't know what gauge wire your are using but it should fit in the hole.

Bad advice for the 4 ohm PBR300x4 amp when using 4 ohm speakers. Wiring it the suggested way is wiring the speakers in parallel which reduces the 4 ohm speakers to 2 ohm.
