Default Idle adjustment

Please save the buy a manual comments I'm looking for the best and cheapest place to buy one.

Is there a idle adj. screw or **** on a 2012 Limited ? What is the proper idle speed ? All my jap bikes had one but I can't find one on the HD.

online discount HD dealer is usually 20% there are a a half dozen so shop around.

no manual ****, idle speed is programmed into the ecm.

minimum idle 1000 rpms ( oil pressure and volume are rpm dependent so a higher idle is good- also tailpipe emissions are lower at a higher idle) idle is often higher 12~1300 rpms.

Late models can get confused if the motor is shut down with the throttle slightly open.

cycling the ign. switch on until the fuel pump stops/ off/ on until the pump stops etc. 4 or 5 times ( with hand OFF the throttle) will reset the "zero" for the idle and throttle position sensor.

On start up ( cold) my 09 will often run up to 1700 for a moment before settling down.

My '53 will idle at 650, but the old motors are completely different- the exterior "shape" is about the only thing shared with the twin cam

Screws and ***** are gone now you need a key board. I run my idle at 975 with no observed loss of oil pressure and I find bike has better parking lot manners with a little lower idle.

No hijacking intended but do you need to have an Auto Tune or will the PCV take idle adjustment input...? If just the PCV is needed can you share how?

so he can go spend $60 on the manual, and it still won't tell him how to adjust his idle......

i know you can set it via the powervision, i would assume the se counterpart can do it as well. but you aren't gonna do it without some type of tuner.

If you are looking to turn the idle down to get that lope of the old HD's forget it, that went away with fuel injection.

Some days my carbed RK will decide it is slow idle day. Sounds great...especially with the cam.

Sorry EFI guys.

I adjusted mine with power vision. Many flash tuners will. I was Not looking for cam lope for me it feels better and bike has better parking lot behavior. @ 1k idle i felt pushed along in idle @ stop lights it always felt a tad too fast of a idle.
