Actually, I understand where you're coming from. You never have to worry if you replace the pads before they get close to gone.

One thing to consider though is that the pads are not very thick even when new. It's easy for a tech to show an unsuspecting customer a set of pads and say "these are pretty thin, you ought to replace them". Personally, I wouldn't even consider replacing pads until they're less than .05-.06 inch of thickness remaining.

Changed mine out at 10,000 to much brake dust. Installed lyndall gold one of the best things I have done. And stops alot better than the stock brake pads.

Number of miles is going to depend on the type of riding. If you get on the interstate and go non stop for 200 miles, obviously you're not going to wear the brakes as much as if you do 200 miles in stop and go traffic.

33,000 on front and rear,could go a lot more but,lyndalls for me tired of cleaning brake dust,and I'm going to the www tires this time.
