I there any performance gain from switching to a HD 2 into 1. There have been a lot of take off Super Glide systems on e-bay recently. Will they fit on a Road King, looks like they should. One could always add a aftermarket muffler.
the super glide system probably won't fit a touring frame- and a "stock take off" would likely have a catalytic convertor which is an impediment to flow.
In general, a 2 into 1 system is likely to have better torque characteristics than other designs.
This is more noticeable on smaller model bikes where the exhaust system has less volume.*
the touring exhaust system has more room, more volume in the exhaust tract and that itself allows for slight power gains.
if you look at stock power numbers, you'll notice that although the touring and dyna have the same motor, the touring always make slightly more power ( the softail models use the "B" motor which is different enough to be an orange when we are talking apples)
the 2010 streetglides came with a factory catted 2/1 which would fit the 2009+ frame- easy enough to have the cat removed- but I do not know if there would be any power advantage

* I've used a Supertrapp 2/1 on my FXR for 22 years to good result, the performance characteristic is part of the gain- this pipe is much lighter than the stock system, so that also is a performance gain-

A properly designed 2-1 would make a difference for sure. One with a properly sized collector and muffler attached.
The problem with the Street Glide take-off is that there's ONE 1-3/4" outlet that your slip-on goes to. To me, that's a lot of restriction, especially since the stock 2-1-2 has TWO 1-3/4" outlets. Whether or not the under-bike pipe is smashed, the 2-1-2 still flows a lot more exhaust.
