Where are you guys finding the cheapest prices for the hd lids? I'm convinced those are the best looking lids.

The Cycle Sounds lids will work with any 6x9. I've had a set of Arc Audio and Polk Audios in mine. They are nice lids. Mine fit great and were basically paint ready according to the guy that painted mine.

My local dealer does 20% off so I'm lucky that way. Try www.lshd1.com and check on prices...

The 6"x9" option appeals to me but wondering about the sound? can you hear them OK in the saddle as they direct the music straight up. The Rock'N Tops do direct up/in albeit with 5-1/4" or 6.5" speakers.

Ditto that. I have the Cycle Sounds also and I am running 4way Pioneers in mine. Someone gave the OP some bad info!!! Oh and Yaffe's speaker lids are Cycle Sounds. Give paul a shout at Native Customs for a good price.

You can hear them pretty good until about 50mph, then they start to fade away. My exhaust is pretty loud though.

Lots of good info here.. Thanks all for the input! That said, the original info from Dr.V was more of an error resulting from his verbage in his reply. That has been cleared up. Another forum member has the exact same set-up I was pondering, using H-D lids and Polk DB 5"x7" speakers. Clipping the mounting holes to resemble U mounts lets them match up nicely. Gasket maker/silicone needs to be applied to seal them. He says his wife can hear them nicely at speed but he has to fade quite a bit to the rear to hear them. I ride solo basically 100% and was (am) looking just to boost my tunes. Maybe I'm expecting too much? A couple other forum members gave + comments on the Rock'N tops re: fit and quality. By these being angled up/in towards the rider, I wonder if they'd help? Using 6.5" adapters (still funneling thru a 5-1/4" hole) would allow me to match up my speakers with Memphis marines to the rear. Hell, Polk DB651's can be had new on-line for $58 and they're pretty efficient at 93db. Doubt you could really hear any sonic differences at 60+mph. I'll keep on researching and reading info. I'll start my purchasing decisons in about a week. thanks all (Carl) for the tips...

I did a lot of research prior to buying my lids. I also received a lot of help from forum members. I went with the cycle sounds lids, Polk MM691's and had them painted vivid black. I am switching back mainly because you loose about 1 3/4" under the speakers. I travel a lot and use my bag liners. This 2" loss under the speakers was affecting my packing.

They sound great, but are mainly for the passenger.

Mine are on ebay - item# 200782738028 for $675 - I have $975 invested in them.

If you want louder tunes run a good amplifier and put good speakers in your fairing and use lowers with speakers in them. The sound will be directed more at you and will be much louder than anything behind you could possibly be at cruising speed.
