For my fronts I am running an ARC 125.2 powering Memphis Audio 6.5" components, with my JVC deck powering the tweeters in the small aux guage slots. I know fairing lowers/w speakers would be best but not interested in that route. Very happy with the sound but just have a bug for a bit more. Will have to be satisfied whatever way I decide....

I believe the stock HK radios have something like 20w/ch at 2 ohms?? Someone will verify this ...

Just wanted to add a bit more to this thread.

I am currently running thr J&M Rokker set up. I have the 500w amp with 7.25's in the fairing AND lowers. The system sounds real good to me, very loud, and actually pretty good mid's at speed (and this is over Rhineharts). That being said, I really can't hear the speakers in the lowers, parked or at speed. I will say that I believe by having the 2 speakers in the lowers it will actually makes the fairing speakers better vs. just having fairing speakers alone.

I'm just wondering if I'd get the same thing out of lid speakers? I am actually looking to just keep the same sound but loose the lowers - just can't get used to them on all the time, and think I like the look better without them.

Well, I finally **** and got off the pot about my lid decision, and by pure accident it turned out great. I was leaning between H-D's and Rock-N-Tops as my two choices. I stopped by my old metric shop where I had them order me a Jagg cooler with some past credit I got from helping them out. At the counter I see a Bikers Choice catalog, thumb thru it and see the 6.5" Rock-N-Ride lids with msrp of $390. I ask what my local discount/cost would be with acquired credit and he says "$59.23". WTF ? I forgot about some metric credit I had from a few years back!! Sweet They're BO until July.10 so now I have time to think about speakers. Probably will play it safe with Marine types and go with Polks or Memphis Audio. Crazy how this just happened to come about .....

Default Murphys Law ????

Geeez.. Like my last post indicates, I ordered some RNR 6.5" lids on June.28, knowing they were back ordered until July.10 which wasn't a big deal. Come July.10, the BO date is pushed out until Aug.10. Now maybe it is becoming a bit of a deal. Called the dealer Saturday and was advised that they're still on BO status and was transferred to my parts guy extension. I left him a message to cancel the the RNR lids and go ahead and order me the Cycle Sounds 6"x9" lids. On Sunday I bought a NIB pair of Rockford Fosgate P1692 speakers on craigslist for $30 which was cool. I also ordered some Saddlemen vinyl lid covers to keep in the bags for inclement weather. Being out/about yesterday, I missed a call from my parts guy who advised me that he took off Sat/Mon and my RNR 6.5" lids were shipped and will be in Thu! And by not turning on my phone to get this message, I missed my opportunity to cancel my lid covers. Doh!!! I don't mind getting the 6.5" lids as they are pretty nice looking but now i have to sell some speakers/covers I'm sure the speakers will go ok but if anybody is interested in a pair of Saddleman protective lid covers, I'll have a pair to sell in about a week when I get them from my bro-in-law. $55 TYD in lower 48 states... Sheeesh

I was about to ask your opinion on 6x9s for my speaker lids. But I see you are running pioneers. That's what I have now but they can't handle what the elf amp is putting out. What do you suggest?

I can see how that can be interpreted but they didn't actually sound bad at the local store for $80. When I came across these new in box on Craigslist I thought what the hell as I'm sure going down the road at 70mph they won't sound much sonically different than the Polks I was considering. If I don't like them what am I really out as I could sell them used for $20. That said, I will be looking for some 6.5"'ers now...
