They are easy to install, you have options from picking up a used Road King Police Tach, a Harlet tach or aftermarket. I have a billet mount and handlebar cover in the shop I could sell to you or trade,

HD has some nice combination units like the one I put on mine. Just remove the stock one and plug in a new one. Though, I am not sure about the model year and what elecrtronics/hardware a '11 has beyond an '05.
again, do they have one for your year and model bike? Dunno.
I looked into this one and contacted PowerCommander. Apparently to install this correctly, you have to remove the fuel tank. It is also not fully plug-and-play and requires some wire splicing which seemed a bit odd.
I have an 04 Road King. It's the Custom model with the shroud over the handle-bar clamp so can't mount a tach in that area (in the center of the bars). I went to Harley to look at what they had for Speedo/Tach combos. The one I liked that fits our bikes was only available in KPH (kilometers). There was nothing else much being offered by the MoCo, so...
I started looking around. I found the Dakota Digital digital unit. It isn't a retro style, but it has the speedo, tach, gear-position...and a bunch of other capability. You can calibrate it (in case you change gear ratios/tire sizes), and it's plug and play (reportedly). You can set the mileage within the first 100 yourself. They come in a blue or red main display. I've seen them at about $350/new, from certain dealers (on eBay).
The installation is literally removing the old speedo, and plugging this in in its place. You'd have to remove the panel on top of the tank, but not the tank. Reading through the installation, it sounded pretty straight-forward, no special tools, and not a lot of hassle. The hardest part for me (because I'm so incredibly lazy) is reading-up on the new unit.

You can replace that RK Custom shroud with one that has the tach mount on it.
Like the one someone posted earlier in this thread.

installed on the bike when I bought it I would have strongly considered the Powercommander unit. It also provides the engine temp. Which my RKC does not have.
