You can use diluted dish detergent or light soap for hand washing of delicate (wool) clothes. Remember the air filter breathes the same air we breathe.
I use the KN recharger kit. Does a very good job of cleaning out the dirt. I use the spray oil versus the stuff you drop on top.
Yep, does a great job until the sprayer sticks. Then you are left with plenty of oil but cleaning solvent you can not get to. Still would not use anything else. Just annoyed with a couple bottles but no better option. Dish wash liquid? Then how do you treat t? Not being sarcastic but maybe I can learn something here.

You can use a garden plastic bottle with a finger pump to spray the detergent or the oil recuperated from the K&N sprayer. When you don't have the original detergent, use one that doesn't hurt the skin and give it time to soak the filter media; flush the dirt away with the same concentration of detergent solution and finally rinse with warm water. In industry when the optimal solution is not yet understood we proceed in steps and never use straight water first.
