head buffeting
until those lazy bastards in harley r/d actually use wind tunnel testing or god forbid and electric screen screw them 20,000 for a street glide or road glide that beats you up please!
maybe they should read these forums and fix the damn problem
I look over the windshield i hold my hand up and the wind hits the top of my head so not right in the face. hold my hand down at the bottom of the batwing feel a lot of buffeting so i think thats the problem .. I can't be the only one with this problem
So how would anybody be able to give you a recomendation?
I'm 6' and can't use a windshield under 9 1/2" or I get to much buffering.
If I don't use those side venst I get to much buffering.
You apparently owned an Ultra at one time, what did you experience with it?
You use the stock 12" shield?
Or did you use an 8 1/2" Clearview with it?
If I'm on a long ride down interstate where it feels like its going to slap you off the side of the bike I put my feet on the top of the crash bar as close to the frame as I can, other than interstate speeds dosen't bother me.

I've been riding now for 45 years and never experienced anything like what happened with our Ultra....my first Harley. Whether it's windshield height, my height, seat height, faring design, tank shape, or whatever, like the OP, my glasses were bouncing on my nose continuously. With bifocals or trifocals it's not only annoying, but downright dangerous. Most of the problem for me was with the wind that came up between the fairing and the front of the tank, hitting me square under the chin. My mustache tails would be straight up in the air.
My Ultra is now equipped with the fork baffle, fairing deflectors, and Freedom Wings, and a Road zep seat. Depending on the wind direction, I can usually adjust something to eliminate the buffeting. Often I have one Freedom Wing open and the other closed.
But the one thing that helped the most was the addition of the fork baffle...which used to be standard on the Ultra's, and is now an option.
Flyburch, read through some of the other threads. There is a solution...you just have to find out what it is for your situation.

Up causes buffeting.
If you use the fairing mounted deflectors the air will be pushed out, just around the rider and will not travel up your body, so no buffeting.
With the fairing mounted deflectors you can use the stock short wind shield and not get the buffeting and can have wind in your face, or use a taller wind shield for winter or personal preference and not have buffeting.
By the way they come standard on the Classic, Ultra Classic, and the Ultra Limited, I believe this is because of the benefit not because of the cool factor.
