You just stirring the pot, or what?

Post after post here confirms the fact that "buffeting" comes from UNDER the batwing, not over it, and you suggest a FF & "taller shield"? C'mon.

And get out some day and ride in 107+ degree weather with your FF helmet all visored-up and report back on how great it is with sweat dripping down your face.

I'm 5'11", and an 8" recurve shield, fairing air deflectors, fork baffle, and fork mounted deflectors fixed it for me. Screw the "cool factor" - if I can't enjoy the ride, that ain't "cool".

The 8 inch windshield allowed me to hear my radio again.

When I was younger I would rather look cool than be safe and comfortable. As I'm getting older that has reversed.
You are exactly correct. SG's ridden as stock look great and do many things well, but not the overall choice for "touring"

Once you install and adjust the right equipment and get the proper air pocket you will be amazed how comfortable and quiet it can be.

I had same problem first used a 6 inch v-stream by national cycle it fixed most of the problem and was comfortable for a 2300 round trip ride to sturgis but for this years trip I decided to get the 8.5 inch klockworks and I am glad I did it even lets me hear the speakers better I love it.

The vents for sure. I had never opened mine on my Ultra and this weekend it was so hot I opened them. I was cruising down the highway 70 mph and my head was shaking (that never happened before) I closed them and it stopped. I then messed with them and found a position that let some more air flow without causing issues. By the way I have a 6" LRS for the spring/summer and a 9" LRS for the fall/winter. It is not the shield get the vents and your problem will be solved.

I ride a Road King and I still experience wind buffeting. I went to a low profile half helmet and that has seemed to work. I was wearing a full face but noticed the buffeting is much more pronounced than when wearing the low profile half. Seems to be less noisy as well. Maybe it's just my imagination, but that has been my experience since buying the low profile helmet. I have no experience with riding an Ultra so have no inputs to that end.
