just take your time and the install isn't really that difficult. one step at a time and you'll be done before you know it. that first one is intimidating, but once you finish, you'll think 'that was't that bad'.

'scuse me? i bought my hd one before the iron cross/on the move tech version came out but it was nowhere near twice the price. iron cross sells it for $270 (msrp 299), and the hd version has an msrp of 399. i paid 330 for mine. plus i used my hd chrome cash and knocked my out of pocket down another hundred. (yes, i realize not everyone is gonna have chrome cash....) and the hd version plays pandora and off the iphone as well.

the point is, yes it is a little cheaper but not 50% cheaper.

either version is worth getting

I'm assuming the OP bought Connector Kit P/N 69200033? Pay attention to the 2 extra wires that are not listed in the Main instructions..... they will be referenced in the instructions for Connector Kit P/N 69200033.

The iPod instructions were written by someone at Harley who knows electronics.... but has ZERO communication skills.

This might help.... these are easy to understand.

Use the above along with your instructions for the pin outs.

good deal. now when a bud says the dealer wants $200 to install his ipod interface, you can jump in and show him how to do it in a half hour or less

The saddlebag kit comes with an extension cable that runs from the Interface in the fairing to the rear of the bike. Then the cable that came with the interface plugs to that and goes thru a newly drilled hole in saddlebag. when removing the saddlebag, don't forget to disconnect the cable.

I have the NIM installed (same accessory wire harness) and the IPOD interface is on the shelf in my garage - since the NIM is installed, it is truly plug and play at that point. Just waiting for a rainy day and deciding whether or not I want to drill a hole in the tourpak for the IPOD cable (hard mounted tourpak) and not worry about it after that.

On mine, there is a connector that is under the seat. My Ipod tether connects to the Ipod interface cable under the seat, goes through a hole/grommet that is sealed with sealant, and then goes to the Ipod holder in my saddlebag.

If I need to remove the bag, I take off the seat, disconnect the cable, and then the bag comes off with about 14" of the tether sticking out the inside wall of the saddlebag.

It's not a big deal and I frequently remove the bag for cleaning. I love the interface. It let's me control my Nano from the radio with the Nano in the saddlebag. I hook it up before a trip and forget about it until the trip is over.

I just installed the interface today, along with the saddlebag mount kit. Except I installed in the Tour Pak. No drilling required.

2012 FLHTK.

I ran the wire on top of the tank, under the console, to keep it away from engine heat. Going down the backbone puts it an inch or two above the motor, which may be fine but I thought why not go over. Exiting the console cable tied to other wires, making sure it is snug so not to get caught up when the seat is removed. Then down the right side, cable tied to other wiring, eventually entering the Tour Pak tied to the 12v wire that is already there. Popped that grommet out, widened the hole a bit, ran the two wires together into the Pak. Coiled the extra wire onto the floor of the Pak, reinstalled the shell/liner, exited the cable with the 12v, and it's done.

There are pics of someone else doing this Tour Pak method, which is where I got the idea.

Eventually I will mount the saddlebag mount onto the bolts that hold the backrest on, but I didn't have the needed longer bolts today.

I was just relieved when everything worked first time. No fussing over connections, etc.

And the sound is great!
